Fate smiled at Destiny
when she offered you to me.
Intentions in a guise of kindness
I believed her subtle pretense.
Destiny refrained from intervention,
--faith and love in mad contention--
dare she risk my fragile soul
and allow Fate to openly cajole?
Fate dangled dreams and bright lit stars,
the sun, the moon and tales of mars;
She promised this a perfect fit,
knowing all along I would submit.
While Destiny observed her fears anew,
aware that dreams would never do,
you implied visions of passions deep,
of dreams beyond the realm of sleep.
Fooled by Fate and falling hard,
I watched as Destiny played her card --
A seed of doubt bloomed insecure,
my confidence became a blur.
My doubt in you caused Fate to cheer
while Destiny withheld a tear;
I held my breath, perhaps too long
and prayed to God youd prove them wrong.
