1997 Holiday Wishes

‘Twas the month before Christmas and out on the coast
change was occurring, but I don’t want to boast.

As most of you know, I ran away late last June
to find my own self and sing my own tune.

I deserted job, husband and home
to strike out and travel all on my own.

My journey was great, many beautiful places --
ten thousand plus miles and tons of new faces.

I saw buffalo roaming while the Tetons stood proud,
and the silence in Yellowstone whispered so loud.

My Godson was christened, Nicholas James
there was lots of laughter and little kid games.

I bought a new car -- the McLaren’s for sale;
she’s falling apart, it’s just time to bail.

The payments are higher. In fact, they’re quite steep,
but Mom sleeps better at night and I try not to weep.

There’s a baby on the way -- my cousin’s expecting,
the first in our family, it should be quite something.

It’s some kind of different, being out on my own
but there’s a new sense of freedom in being alone.

So now you know what’s been up with me
it’s a work in progress, and progress you’ll see.

I’ll keep you posted, but in the meantime,
Have a wonderful holiday -- to your heart from mine.
